Microsoft Windows 11 may face an issue where Microsoft Photos application failed to open when a user is trying to open any image file like a .jpg .jpeg .png or .gif and no matter how many times you restart the system the Photos app in not opening at all.
In this article, we will see how to fix this Photos not opening in Windows 11.
Before we follow any steps, make sure, any other app or working program is closed, and no background app is running as we are going to repair and reset the Photos app now.
Open settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Search for “Photos” in search box.
In the result, see “Photos”, all you need to do is click on 3 vertical dots visible on the right side of the Photos and then click on “Advanced options”.
Now, simply terminate the app from Terminate section, repair the app from Repair section, and do the reset from Reset option. This way we have repaired and reset it completely.
For most of us, only repairing the app fixed the app, and for some users only reset option fixed it. That is why I’m suggesting here repair as well as reset option both.
If you need, you can set the default app option for file extensions—JPEG, PNG, and GIF.
Now try to open any image file and see whether this tutorial has fixed it or not.
