Torrents are reliable, fast, and an effective mode to download files from internet. Torrent is a content distribution service that uses Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network technology to circulate content. They are maintained by other torrent users who download, share, or upload their favorite data files, so, there is a community consensus too, that’s involved in deciding the health of a particular torrent file. But for many reasons, torrent and torrenting is stated totally dangerous. So, is torrenting safe? Let’s check it out.

Honestly, torrents are absolutely safe.

However, they are banned in some countries because pirating is a crime there. Since the country cannot handle piracy issues over torrent, they have straightaway banned it. But many users still use it using VPN (Virtual Private Network), and on encrypted network.

But this network abused badly to distribute malware and viruses in the name of “free” and “copyrighted” contents. The worst thing is, many people download those malware and viruses in the name of free content and cry for loss at the end.

Thus, make good use of torrent, it is safe to download free stuff which are not copyrighted. Many open source projects use torrents to share their contents to save their hosting fees. For example, Debian Linux which is an open source software uses torrent network to save their bandwidth cost, which is safe and free. But if you try to download Adobe Photoshop, and similar paid software for free on torrent, it is illegal as well as risky.

In conclusion, it is safe, if you use it safely.
